Brook Reverses IPL Stance, Eyes Return to Cash-Rich League
England's white-ball captain now open to IPL after previously prioritizing international duty and The Hundred.
Harry Brook has softened his position on the IPL. The England white-ball skipper, who had earlier dismissed the idea of playing in the lucrative franchise tournament, now admits he would welcome a return. Speaking to Cricinfo, Brook said the IPL is a fantastic competition that helps players improve and that he would seriously consider taking part in the future, while still keeping England duty as his top priority.
Brook's change of heart comes after a strong T20I series against India, where he amassed 229 runs in four innings at an average of 114.50. Just weeks earlier, he had insisted he wanted no part in franchise leagues apart from The Hundred. Currently, he is playing for Sunrisers Leeds, the sister team of Sunrisers Hyderabad, with whom he made his IPL debut in 2023 before stepping away.
The 27-year-old's renewed interest in the IPL marks a notable shift in his thinking, though he remains non-committal about specific plans. For now, he is focused on performing for England, but his latest comments suggest the IPL might not be off the table for long.
