Abhishek Sharma's blistering 113 off 38 deliveries at Wellington's Hnry Stadium did more than finish off a 199-run chase in the third T20I against New Zealand. The knock, which included nine fours and 11 sixes, gave him the highest individual T20I score by an Indian batter on New Zealand soil, and his 35-ball hundred was the quickest by an Indian against the Black Caps in the format.

His own national mark is even bigger. Against England at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in February 2025, the southpaw struck 135 off 54 balls, with seven fours and 13 sixes, lifting India to 247/9 before England were bowled out for 97 in a 150-run defeat.

Elsewhere, Virat Kohli's unbeaten 122 off 61 balls against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup in Dubai stands as the best by an Indian in the UAE, while Tilak Varma's 120 not out from 47 deliveries in Johannesburg in November 2024 leads the way in South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav's 117 off 55 balls at Nottingham in July 2022, made while chasing 216, remains the top Indian effort in England.
