PCB Explores PSL Sixes to Carry League Into Smaller Cities
Salman Naseer says a six-a-side off-season competition, inspired by the Hong Kong Sixes, is among the ideas being weighed to grow the PSL brand and board income.

The Pakistan Cricket Board, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, is considering a six-a-side tournament modelled on the long-running Hong Kong Sixes, with the aim of strengthening the PSL brand and opening a new revenue channel for the board.
PSL chief executive Salman Naseer said the proposed event could be called PSL Sixes and would be staged during the off-season, mainly in smaller venues and towns that the full league has never visited. He stressed that no decision has been taken, describing the plan as one of several ideas under discussion.
"Nothing is finalised, but there are some exciting plans, and one of them is a sixes tournament, called the PSL Sixes, which will be in the off-season," Naseer said. He added that if approved, the competition would be "very exciting, entertaining and engaging" for supporters, and could become a regular fixture while reaching fans in places where they have been eager to watch cricket.
The Hong Kong Sixes, first held in 1992 and sanctioned by the ICC, completes its matches in under an hour each, offering a template for the short, high-scoring format the PCB is examining. A compact version of the PSL would widen the league's footprint across Pakistan and provide an additional income stream.
