Australia's regular No.4 was replaced by Matt Renshaw in the second innings at Gqeberha as a neck niggle continued to affect him.

Steve Smith was not at his customary No.4 spot for Australia in their second innings against South Africa at St George's Park in Gqeberha on Day 4. When Marnus Labuschagne fell at No.3, Matt Renshaw walked out at 100-2 before the drinks break on October 21.

Reports indicate that neck cramps are still troubling Smith, which also led him to bat at No.5 in Australia's first innings earlier in the day. It was the second time in the match that he moved away from his usual position.

Australia were facing a difficult fight to stay in the Test as Smith stayed out of the middle at No.4. The team management sent Renshaw in at the start of the 33rd over of the innings.
