Mukesh Kumar has signed with Nottinghamshire for the closing stretch of the 2026 County Championship, giving the county an experienced right-arm seamer for its remaining Division One fixtures. The 32-year-old, capped by India in all three formats, will make his first appearance in English domestic cricket.
Kumar is set to play against Sussex away on September 15 before Nottinghamshire host Yorkshire at Trent Bridge on September 24 in their final match of the campaign. Both games carry real weight, with the county still firmly in the hunt for the Division One title, and his signing hands the bowling unit another proven option for the decisive weeks.
He arrives on the back of a productive Duleep Trophy 2026, where he shared top spot among wicket-takers for champions East Zone with 12 scalps at an average of 14.91. His First-Class record is equally strong: 233 wickets across 60 matches at 21.79, alongside three Test appearances. Nottinghamshire will hope that blend of recent form and long-format consistency pays off as they push for silverware.
