Revival of India-Pakistan Cricket Beyond ICC Events Gathers Pace
Reports suggest the ICC may explore a tri-series or quadrangular series involving the Asian rivals.
For more than ten years, India and Pakistan have crossed paths only in ICC or ACC tournaments, such as World Cups, Champions Trophies, and the Asia Cup. However, that could soon change as momentum builds for resuming matches between the two sides outside those brackets.
According to reports, the ICC is looking into the possibility of staging contests between the arch-rivals in a multi-nation white-ball event. A tri-series or quadrangular series featuring both teams is among the ideas being considered. The proposal is expected to be raised during an ICC seminar scheduled for September 22-23 in Dubai.
The seminar's primary focus is to map out the Future Tours Programme, with representatives from all 12 Test-playing nations and eight associate members in attendance. While no official confirmation has been made, the prospect of India and Pakistan meeting in a multilateral series outside ICC and ACC events appears to be gaining traction within the cricketing world.
