Babar Azam's Fever Adds to Pakistan's Woes Before Edgbaston Test
Pakistan captain's availability for the third Test against England is uncertain after he was struck down by a high fever.
Babar Azam has been hit by a high fever just days before the decisive third Test against England at Edgbaston. The Pakistan skipper was already facing intense scrutiny after consecutive defeats at Leeds and Lord's, which put the team under enormous strain.
The news comes amid a turbulent period for the visitors. The PCB recently released seven players from the squad, including Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq, and brought in fresh faces. Additionally, head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were replaced by Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke.
According to team media manager Naveed Akram Cheema, there is no immediate cause for alarm as Babar is expected to recover soon. However, if the fever lingers, he may lack match fitness and could be ruled out. That would mark the second time on this tour that Pakistan take the field without their regular captain.
