Dewald Brevis has lit up the ongoing T20I tri-series in Namibia with back-to-back match-winning knocks for South Africa, but AB de Villiers says the real issue is how the youngster is being used. The 24-year-old scored 75 off 50 balls against Namibia and followed that with an unbeaten 75 off 32 against Zimbabwe, yet De Villiers believes his potential is being held back by inconsistent positioning.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, De Villiers revealed that he has personally mentored Brevis and stressed that the batter is still in his early twenties, with plenty of room to grow. He acknowledged that some fans have already begun to question Brevis's consistency, but urged patience and warned against writing him off too soon.

De Villiers did not hold back in his advice to coaches, including those at CSK. He made it clear that Brevis should not be moved around the order, asking for him to be given a stable role. According to De Villiers, Brevis should bat at No. 3 in T20s and ODIs, with a No. 4 spot in Test cricket. His comments are a direct nudge to franchises like Chennai Super Kings to stop experimenting and let the young talent flourish.
