CSK's Prashant Veer Mimics Dhoni with Helicopter Shots in UP T20
The young batter smashed an unbeaten 50 off 27 balls, thrilling fans with two signature helicopter sixes.

Prashant Veer, who was picked up by Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2026, showed glimpses of MS Dhoni's brilliance during a UP T20 2026 match in Kanpur. Despite not sharing the field with the legendary wicketkeeper-batter in the IPL due to Dhoni's injury, Veer seems to have absorbed plenty from their time together in the dressing room.
In game 25 of the tournament, Veer, leading the Noida Kings, produced a stunning knock of 50 not out from just 27 deliveries at Green Park Stadium. Coming in at number five, he struck three fours and five sixes to guide his team to 128 for 6 in a rain-shortened 12-over contest. Two of those maximums came off successive balls from Kanpur Superstars' Ajay Kumar, with Veer executing a ferocious helicopter shot over leg side. He later repeated the feat against Shakti Verma to bring up his half-century in only 23 balls.
The helicopter shot, popularized by MS Dhoni in international cricket after Sachin Tendulkar attempted it in 2002, relies on strong wristwork. Veer's powerful version drew immediate comparisons to the former India captain in his prime, lighting up social media and reminding everyone of the CSK influence.
