Renshaw's Recall Ends Three-Year Test Absence
The left-hander's last outing in the longest format came as a concussion substitute in Delhi, where he walked in during a dramatic collapse.

Matt Renshaw is back in Australia's Test squad after a gap of over three years, replacing Jake Weatherald for the second Test against Bangladesh. Weatherald managed only 23 and 0 in the first Test in Darwin, with Hasan Mahmud dismissing him in both innings. The 30-year-old Renshaw is now set to earn his 15th Test cap, having last appeared for his country in February 2023.
That final appearance came under unusual circumstances during Australia's tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Renshaw was not originally in the playing XI but was drafted in as a concussion substitute for David Warner in the second Test in Delhi. Despite being an opener by trade, he was slotted at No. 5, with Travis Head and Usman Khawaja continuing as the opening pair.
The match was already a tough contest. Australia posted 263 in their first innings, with Khawaja scoring 81 and Peter Handscomb unbeaten on 72. India replied with 262, leaving Australia with just a one-run lead. Renshaw then walked in during the second innings with his side in trouble, as Australia suffered one of their most dramatic collapses in recent memory.
