The 26-year-old, drafted in as a last-minute replacement for the injured Sai Sudharsan, struck 15 fours and a six to register his maiden century in just his third Test appearance. When asked about the looming competition with Sudharsan, Padikkal chose a diplomatic path. He acknowledged Sudharsan's talent and contributions, stating that the team's success matters more than individual selection.
