LSG Eye Jos Buttler Trade After Manchester Super Giants' Hundred Triumph
The franchise win has sparked speculation that Lucknow could pursue the former England captain for IPL 2027.

Manchester Super Giants' victory in the Hundred has given the Goenka group its first cricket title under the Super Giants banner. That success is already prompting thoughts about how Lucknow Super Giants might follow suit in IPL 2027, especially after a dismal campaign that saw them finish last and Rishabh Pant depart as captain.
The most concrete change being discussed is a bid to bring Jos Buttler, who led Manchester to the title, into the LSG fold. Buttler currently plays for Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow could explore a trade. One option would be offering Nicholas Pooran, who struggled badly in IPL 2026 with only 234 runs in 14 innings, as a makeweight.
A trade would involve significant financial compromise, as Buttler earns 15.75 crores while Pooran commands 21 crores. However, LSG might accept the loss given Pooran's poor returns. Still, the swap appears unlikely to materialize, as Gujarat would probably be reluctant to take on an out-of-form batter. But with the Hundred win fresh in mind, Lucknow's desire to recreate that success is clear.
