Babar Azam Doubtful for First Test Against England
Pakistan captain's participation in Leeds opener hinges on late fitness assessment.

Pakistan's preparations for the first Test against England have been hit by uncertainty over skipper Babar Azam's fitness. The right-handed batter is still recovering from an injury that saw him sit out part of the warm-up match against Professional County Club Select XI in Beckenham.
Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas revealed in the pre-match press conference that the medical team and selection committee have yet to make a call on Babar's availability. Abbas said the decision will be made on the morning of the match, following medical advice. Babar did take part in some throwdowns and batting practice, but his participation remains in doubt.
The potential absence of their captain would be a significant blow for Pakistan as they begin the series at Headingley. A final update is expected closer to the start of play.
