Sandeep Lamichhane Named Nepal's New ODI Captain

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed Sandeep Lamichhane as the country's new ODI captain, ending Rohit Paudel's leadership tenure. The 26-year-old spinner, who previously played for Delhi Capitals, will lead Nepal in the upcoming ACC Men's Premier Cup in Malaysia. This marks Lamichhane's return to captaincy after a four-year gap, having briefly held the role in 2022 before Paudel was named full-time skipper.

Despite losing the captaincy, Paudel remains a key figure in the squad. CAN also revealed a 14-member roster for the tournament, which includes notable players such as Asif Sheikh, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Karan KC. The board confirmed the change via social media, stating that Lamichhane steps in to lead the side for the Premier Cup.

Paudel, who took over in 2022, led Nepal in 63 ODIs, securing 31 wins and 30 losses with a win percentage of 50.81. Lamichhane's earlier tenure saw him captain in 14 matches, winning only four. Now, he has a chance to improve that record as Nepal's new captain.
