Taskin: Missing Pacers May Cost Bangladesh in Australia
Bangladesh face an uphill battle in the two-Test series as key fast bowlers are sidelined with injuries, says Taskin Ahmed.
Bangladesh's preparations for the upcoming two-Test series in Australia have been hampered by a string of injuries. The first Test begins in Darwin on August 13, but the visitors have already lost several frontline bowlers. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed believes the absence of his fellow pacers could prove decisive in the series.
Nahid Rana, who has been in impressive form, was ruled out with a side strain. Shoriful Islam is also unavailable for the opening Test due to a hamstring injury, with his participation in the second Test uncertain. Taskin acknowledged that missing both bowlers is a major setback. He noted that if Rana and Shoriful were available, Bangladesh's chances would have been significantly stronger.
The injury concerns do not end there. Spinner Taijul Islam hurt a finger during the warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI and had to leave the field. While Bangladesh have not officially ruled him out, his fitness is being monitored closely. With a demanding series ahead, Bangladesh will need to regroup quickly to stay competitive against the hosts.
