Madurai Panthers Seal Record TNPL Chase with Chaturved Blitz
An unbeaten Madurai Panthers side chased down 240 against Kovai Kings, setting a new league benchmark.
A high-octane clash at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul saw the Madurai Panthers etch their name into TNPL folklore on Saturday. The Panthers and Kovai Kings combined for nearly 500 runs across 39.3 overs, but it was the Panthers who emerged victorious, preserving their unbeaten start to the season.
Chasing a daunting 240, the Panthers were propelled by a breathtaking innings from number three NS Chaturved. He smashed 15 fours and seven sixes in a 47-ball 121, striking at over 250. Siddharth Mahadevan and captain B Anirudh Sita Ram also chipped in with quick runs, with Sita Ram and CSK pacer Gurjapneet Singh sealing the win with three balls to spare.
The successful chase of 240/4 is now the highest in TNPL history, surpassing the 209/8 posted by Kovai Kings against Nellai Royal Kings in 2022. The Panthers' effort also overshadowed the 206/3 achieved by IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans earlier this season, cementing this match as a landmark moment in Tamil Nadu's premier T20 competition.
