Mumbai Indians Should Retain Hardik Pandya, But Only as Player

Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have also expressed interest in acquiring the 32-year-old all-rounder.
However, a closer look at the numbers reveals why Mumbai should think twice. While Hardik has struggled with the bat and ball over the past three seasons, his performances as a pure player have been far more consistent. When he is not burdened with leadership responsibilities, he has repeatedly delivered match-winning contributions for the five-time champions.
Instead of trading him away, Mumbai's management could take a bold step: persuade Hardik to step down as captain. This would allow him to focus entirely on his all-round game, free from the pressures of leading the side. With no obvious replacement available in the market, retaining Hardik in a player-only role might be the smartest move for the franchise.
