2027 World Cup Co-Hosts Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe to Clash in T20 Tri-Series
The three African nations will use a seven-match series in Windhoek as a springboard for a proposed continental cup.
Namibia will welcome South Africa and Zimbabwe for a seven-match T20I tri-series later this month, with all games scheduled at the newly opened Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The tournament is widely seen as an early step toward the creation of an Africa T20 Cup, a competition similar to Asia's premier regional event, with further talks expected in 2027.
The series also carries financial significance, as revenue from ticket sales and broadcasting rights will be directed to the Africa Cricket Association to support cricket development across the continent. Beyond the T20s, South Africa will remain in Namibia for an additional week to play a three-match ODI series against the hosts — their first-ever bilateral ODI encounter.
South Africa are expected to field a weakened squad for both white-ball series, as selectors look to manage player workloads during a demanding season that includes eight Test matches against Australia, England, and Bangladesh. The three nations, meanwhile, are intensifying their collaboration ahead of jointly hosting the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
