Vinay Kumar Roped In as Karnataka Head Coach
Former India pacer and ex-Karnataka captain set to lead state team for 2026-27 domestic season.
Vinay Kumar has been appointed head coach of the Karnataka cricket team for the upcoming domestic season. The 42-year-old's selection was confirmed by the Cricket Advisory Committee, which includes legends like Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, and Javagal Srinath. The official announcement is expected after the managing committee meeting on August 13.
Kumar brings a wealth of experience, having played over 450 competitive matches and taken 504 first-class wickets, with 410 for Karnataka. He served the state team for 15 years before a brief stint with Puducherry in 2019. As captain, he led Karnataka to back-to-back Ranji Trophy titles in 2013-15, along with two Vijay Hazare and two Irani Trophy triumphs.
His deep roots in Karnataka cricket and prior association with RCB make him a natural fit for the role. Reports suggest he could become the highest-paid coach in KSCA history, underlining the trust in his leadership and cricketing acumen.
