The ICC has announced the venues for the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. India, riding high on their recent ICC triumphs, are expected to be among the front-runners, with most of their matches likely to be held in South Africa, including at the iconic Wanderers in Johannesburg.

However, the venue has not been particularly kind to the Indian team in ODIs. In nine matches played at the Wanderers, they have managed only four victories, leaving them with a less-than-impressive record. While several Indian players have delivered standout individual performances on this ground, the team unit has often fallen short as a collective.

As the World Cup approaches, India will be eager to improve their record at this venue and turn it into a happy hunting ground. With the tournament still a couple of years away, there is ample time for the team to adapt and perhaps rewrite their Johannesburg story.
