The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed Litton Das as the new captain of the ODI team, ending Mehidy Hasan Miraz's tenure in the role. The decision comes just over a year before the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, with the board seeking a change in leadership after a string of disappointing results.
Litton Das, a senior batter, has previously served as Bangladesh's stand-in ODI captain and was the full-time T20I skipper from 2021 to 2026. He has also captained the Test side in a solitary match. The board formally announced the move on social media on Wednesday evening, congratulating Das as the new captain.
Das will take charge starting from the ODI series against South Africa in December 2026, which will be played away from home. The appointment signals Bangladesh's intent to build a stable leadership structure ahead of the World Cup in 2027.
