Bangladesh Premier League Faces Cancellation for 2026/27 Season
BCB considers skipping the league due to franchise issues and financial mismanagement.

Reports indicate that the Bangladesh Premier League may be cancelled for the 2026/27 season. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is struggling to secure suitable franchises to invest in the tournament, prompting discussions about a potential hiatus.
BCB president Tamim Iqbal has previously criticized financial irregularities within the league, including accepting reduced bank guarantees from franchises and unfulfilled player contracts. He warned that holding the BPL in a disorganized manner would be worse than not holding it at all.
If cancelled, the league would take a year-long break to restructure operations. The BPL has faced challenges with payments to players and match-fixing scandals, further complicating its future.
