Stirling Returns to Lead Ireland in Afghanistan ODI Series

Cricket Ireland have unveiled their squad for the first three ODIs against Afghanistan, with captain Paul Stirling making his international return after recovering from a hamstring injury. The series, starting August 5 in Bready, is part of Ireland's preparation for the 2027 World Cup.
The squad features a mix of seasoned players and fresh faces. Wicketkeeper-batter Jai Moondra, who impressed against India, earns his first ODI call-up alongside wicketkeeper Ben Calitz and pacer Byron McDonough. However, the team will miss injured trio Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, and David Delany.
The five-match series begins with two ODIs at Bready before moving to Stormont for the remaining three. Afghanistan, led by new captain Rahmat Shah, will be aiming to challenge a confident Irish side that recently defeated India.
