Shan Masood scored a brilliant century on the third day of the first Test against West Indies in Tarouba, Trinidad. Batting at number three, he reached his hundred off 163 balls, with 11 boundaries. This was his seventh Test century and his first against West Indies, as well as the first Test hundred ever scored at the Brian Lara Academy.

The innings carried extra significance as Masood was recently stripped of Pakistan's Test captaincy by the PCB. Under his leadership, Pakistan suffered series defeats to Australia, South Africa, and Bangladesh. Pakistan's director of high-performance Aaqib Javed cited poor results and leadership issues as reasons for the change. Babar Azam has been reappointed as Test captain.
