In the third T20I between India and Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club, young Indian batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fell nine runs short of a maiden century after a stunning catch by Brad Evans. However, the moment was marred by the Zimbabwe player's aggressive celebration, which included apparent verbal abuse directed at the 15-year-old.
The incident occurred on the final ball of the 15th over when Sooryavanshi attempted to hit Wessly Madhevere down the ground but mistimed it. Evans sprinted in from long-off and completed a diving catch just above the ground. The umpires referred the decision to the TV umpire, who confirmed the catch was clean after multiple replays.
Sooryavanshi's innings of 81 off 49 balls, featuring eight fours and four sixes, showed remarkable composure for his age. He had reached his half-century in 31 balls before accelerating. Had he reached a century, he would have become the youngest to do so in T20Is. India had already won the series 2-0 going into this dead-rubber match.
