McCullum to Scout Hundred Talent After Test Sacking
England's white-ball coach will attend The Hundred 2026 to identify emerging players.
Brendon McCullum has confirmed he will remain in England for The Hundred 2026 season, despite being removed as Test coach. The former New Zealand captain, now focused solely on white-ball duties, plans to use the tournament to evaluate both established stars and up-and-coming talent.
Speaking to reporters, McCullum said, "I'll be around for the Hundred. It's a great chance to see England's premier white-ball players and some of the next generation perform under pressure." He added that attending the matches in person over the next four weeks will help him identify future prospects.
McCullum's role as T20I and ODI coach continues until his ECB contract expires after the 2027 World Cup. However, his scouting during The Hundred could also benefit him if he later pursues a franchise coaching role. He will not rejoin the England setup for at least two months; the team's next assignment is a Test series against Pakistan.
