India Backs Rohit Sharma Amid Form Struggles
Bowling coach Morne Morkel expresses confidence in opener ahead of series-deciding ODI at Lord's.

India's bowling coach Morne Morkel has thrown his support behind Rohit Sharma following a dip in form. The opener has managed only 37 runs in the first two ODIs against England at a strike rate of 54.41, adding to concerns from a lackluster IPL 2026 season. Morkel downplayed the struggles, stating that batting at the top of the order is challenging and backed Rohit to find his rhythm.
Morkel told reporters, "Batting up front is not easy. No doubt Rohit will work it out. He has done it in the past. He brings calmness to the batting line-up. There are no worries or concerns." The 39-year-old has also been sidelined by injury during the IPL and faced retirement rumors, which were dismissed by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who confirmed Rohit remains part of India's plans.
