Gambhir Could Rest Rohit Sharma for Final England ODI

India's experimentation with combinations and Rohit's lack of form may lead to his omission in the third match.

Speculation is growing that Rohit Sharma might be dropped for the third ODI against England. With the series already decided, the Indian team management is looking to test different combinations ahead of the 2027 World Cup, and Rohit's recent struggles with the bat make him a potential candidate for rest.

Captain Shubman Gill had earlier indicated that the team would use these ODIs to experiment. If KL Rahul returns for the final match, Ishan Kishan could be promoted to open alongside Gill. Kishan has a strong record as an opener in ODIs, with 495 runs in nine innings.

Rohit has failed to find form in the series, scoring 11 off 21 in the first ODI and 26 off 47 in the second. His inability to dominate the powerplay and rotate strike has been a concern, leading to calls for a change in the lineup.
