MS Dhoni to Play Key Role in Choosing CSK's Next Head Coach

MS Dhoni is set to have a major say in the appointment of Chennai Super Kings' next head coach following Stephen Fleming's departure. The franchise's managing director, Kasi Viswanathan, confirmed that the search for a new coach has not yet begun but indicated Dhoni's involvement will be crucial.
The legendary wicketkeeper-batter is expected to meet potential candidates, possibly during The Hundred 2026 season in England, where he is currently present. The franchise is open to considering both domestic and overseas candidates, with Dhoni's vast experience and long association with CSK lending weight to his opinion.
Viswanathan also stated that the new head coach will have the autonomy to choose their own support staff, either bringing in new members or retaining existing ones. The process of finding Fleming's replacement is yet to start, with no specific names under consideration.
