Karthik Backs Flower for England Job but Doubts Availability
Dinesh Karthik calls Andy Flower one of the best coaches but questions if he can juggle IPL commitments with the England Test role.
With Brendon McCullum's departure as England Test head coach, the ECB is considering several candidates, including Andy Flower. The former Zimbabwe skipper and renowned coach has received strong backing from Dinesh Karthik, who currently works alongside Flower at Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
Karthik praised Flower as one of the finest coaches globally and a strong contender for the England role. However, he expressed surprise if Flower accepted, given his existing commitment to RCB, which has won back-to-back IPL titles under his guidance. Karthik noted that a partnership between Flower and the ECB would require careful scheduling.
Karthik himself serves as batting coach and mentor for RCB, where Flower has built a successful setup. Flower's track record makes him an attractive option, but his IPL duties could pose a challenge for taking on the England Test job.
