England Dethrones India as No. 1 T20I Team After Four-Year Reign
India's historic 1,605-day streak atop the ICC T20I rankings ends with a 0-4 series loss to England.

India's remarkable four-year dominance in T20I cricket has ended. England overtook the two-time world champions after India suffered a 0-4 series defeat, including a 56-run loss in Southampton on July 11. The defeat marked India's fifth consecutive T20I loss and second straight series defeat following a loss to Ireland.
India had held the number one ranking since February 2022, achieving a record streak of 1,605 days. Under previous captain Rohit Sharma and later Shreyas Iyer, India won 16 consecutive series, including two T20 World Cups and an Asia Cup. However, recent form has slipped, and England now tops the ICC T20I rankings for the first time since 2020.
