Brook and Buttler Shatter Records in Historic T20I Partnership
England's duo posts highest ever T20I partnership for any wicket, propelling team to 257/3 against India.
Jos Buttler and Harry Brook produced a record-breaking stand in the fifth T20I, adding 233 runs for the second wicket—the highest partnership for any wicket in T20I history. Buttler smashed 131 off 64 balls, while Brook remained unbeaten on 95, guiding England to 257/3 in Southampton.
This stand surpassed the previous T20I record of 236 set by Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai and Usman Ghani in 2019. It is also England’s highest partnership for any wicket in the format. England’s total of 257/3 is their third-highest in T20Is and the highest ever against India in T20Is, eclipsing their own 246/7 earlier in the series.
Buttler’s century was his fifth in T20Is, while Brook narrowly missed his maiden ton. The pair dominated India’s bowlers, particularly in the death overs, scoring at over 12 runs per over. This performance underscores England’s formidable batting depth as they build towards future ICC events.
