Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who made history as India's youngest international cricketer, was omitted from the playing XI for the fifth T20I against England. Captain Shreyas Iyer said the team is trying combinations for the future, indicating Sooryavanshi is not currently in their plans for the 2028 T20 World Cup.

Sooryavanshi had a standout IPL 2026 season, winning the Orange Cap for Rajasthan Royals. However, he has not replicated that form in international cricket, leading to his exclusion. The management appears to be exploring other options as they build toward the next World Cup.

Iyer confirmed at the toss that Sanju Samson replaced Sooryavanshi, emphasizing the need to assess what works best for the team moving forward. This suggests the youngster's international opportunities may be limited in the near term.
