Ravichandran Ashwin's stint in Major League Cricket has ended prematurely after a right knee injury forced him out of the tournament. The veteran spinner made his MLC debut for the San Francisco Unicorns but managed only a single appearance, bowling two overs without a wicket against the Texas Super Kings.
The Unicorns have named former Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle as Ashwin's replacement for the remainder of the season. Ashwin, who retired from international cricket and the IPL in 2025, had signed with the franchise as his first overseas league commitment. The injury has cut short what was expected to be a longer run in the competition.
