The upcoming biopic on Sourav Ganguly, titled 'Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story', starring Rajkummar Rao, has generated excitement. The poster, unveiled on Ganguly's birthday, recreates his iconic shirtless celebration at Lord's after India's NatWest Trophy win in 2002. Ganguly called it the best gift ever.
Among other Indian cricketers whose lives have been captured on screen, MS Dhoni's story stands out. The 2016 film 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story', directed by Neeraj Pandey and starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput, chronicles his journey from humble beginnings to World Cup glory. It was a critical and commercial hit, with Rajput's performance earning widespread acclaim.
Another biopic, 'Azhar' (2016), directed by Anthony D'Souza, focuses on Mohammad Azharuddin. The film explores his rise, personal relationships, and the match-fixing scandal that tarnished his career. Emraan Hashmi played the lead role, with Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri in supporting parts.
