Shreyas Iyer Slams 'Atrocious' Display After Record Defeat
India captain calls team's performance unacceptable after losing fourth successive T20I.

India suffered a humiliating defeat in the third T20I against England on Friday, losing by a record margin to go 0-2 down in the five-match series. Chasing 202, the visitors folded inside the powerplay, losing their top five batters to slump to one of their heaviest losses in T20I history.
Captain Shreyas Iyer did not mince words in the post-match presentation, describing the performance as 'atrocious' and the margin of defeat as 'unacceptable'. He blamed the bowlers for failing to bowl hard lengths on a wicket he felt was not worth 200, and rued the top-order collapse that derailed the chase inside the first six overs. 'It was just awful execution,' he said, adding that plans made in meetings were not translated on the field.
Despite the crushing loss, Iyer vowed that India would come back stronger for the remaining two matches of the series. The team, still seeking their first win under his captaincy after a 0-2 defeat in Ireland last week, will aim to turn things around in the fourth T20I.
