Kapil Dev Hails Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as Talented as Kohli, Tendulkar
The World Cup-winning captain backs the 15-year-old opener ahead of his potential India debut in the T20I series against England.

Kapil Dev has lavished praise on teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, comparing him to legends Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. The former all-rounder, who led India to their first World Cup triumph, believes Sooryavanshi possesses talent on par with the two batting icons. However, he also cautioned that the youngster is yet to prove himself across all formats.
The 15-year-old, who won the Orange Cap in IPL 2026, has been included in India's T20I squad for the ongoing England tour. Despite not making his debut in Ireland, fans eagerly await his first cap. Kapil noted that the hype around Sooryavanshi currently exceeds even that of Tendulkar's early days, but urged supporters to avoid undue pressure on the young prodigy.
Sooryavanshi's credentials extend beyond T20s, as evidenced by his record 190 in a 50-over match for Bihar and a match-winning 175 in the U19 World Cup final. He recently smashed a 29-ball 94 for India A. Kapil called for patience, emphasizing that the talented left-hander should be allowed to develop naturally.
