Morkel Explains Delay in Sooryavanshi's India Debut
Indian bowling coach says existing top-order stars are being backed over the young talent.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old sensation, is still waiting for his first international cap after being picked for India's T20I tours of Ireland and England. Despite his impressive IPL 2026 season, he has not made the playing XI in any of the matches so far.
Bowling coach Morne Morkel clarified the team management's stance, stating that they are prioritising current top-order batters like world number one Abhishek Sharma and World Cup hero Sanju Samson. Morkel emphasised the importance of rewarding consistent performers and showing faith in established players.
The BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla also defended the decision, highlighting the need for patience. While fans eagerly await Sooryavanshi's debut, the team remains committed to its proven lineup.
