Aaron Summers Faces Jail for Child Sex Abuse
Australian cricketer Aaron Summers has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a teenage girl and faces possible imprisonment.

Aaron Summers, a former Big Bash League and Pakistan Super League cricketer, is facing jail time after changing his plea to guilty on charges of child sexual abuse. The 28-year-old fast bowler admitted to two counts of penetrative sexual abuse of a child and grooming with intent to expose a child to indecent material.
The abuse occurred in early 2018 in Hobart, Tasmania, while Summers was playing for the Hobart Hurricanes. He met a 15-year-old girl through social media, picked her up near her home, and drove her to a local school where he assaulted her. Summers was arrested and extradited to Tasmania in 2025 after serving time for other child sex offenses.
During sentencing submissions, Summers' lawyer Caroline Graves argued that he was socially isolated at the time and had since developed insight into his crimes, suggesting a wholly suspended sentence. However, Justice Helen Wood indicated that a custodial sentence was likely, given the severity of the offenses.
