The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced the playing XI for the first T20I against India, marking the team's first appearance in the format since their World Cup semifinal defeat to the same opponents earlier this year. Captain Harry Brook will lead a side that includes struggling senior batter Jos Buttler, who has managed only 229 runs in his last 15 T20I innings.

The full XI features Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook (c), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, and Luke Wood. Jofra Archer has been omitted from the lineup, reportedly due to workload management after playing back-to-back Tests against New Zealand and the entire IPL 2026 season.
