India's 2024 T20 World Cup Heroes: Where Are They Now in 2026?
Two years after the historic victory in Barbados, the squad has scattered—some retired, others injured, and a few still leading India's charge.

June 29, 2024, remains a landmark date for Indian cricket as Rohit Sharma's side clinched the T20 World Cup by seven runs against South Africa, ending a long ICC title drought in the shortest format. Since then, India have gone on to win the 2026 T20 World Cup, becoming back-to-back champions. But the 15 players from that triumphant squad have taken vastly different paths.
Captain Rohit Sharma announced his T20I retirement immediately after the final, later stepping down as ODI and Test captain. He now plays only ODIs for India and continues in the IPL. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya remained a T20I regular until injuries sidelined him in 2026; his last competitive outing was captaining Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. Yashasvi Jaiswal, part of the squad but unused in the tournament, played just one T20I series after the win and now features only in ODIs and Tests due to stiff competition. Virat Kohli, like Rohit, retired from T20Is right after the final and quit Tests the following year, limiting himself to ODIs and franchise cricket.
