Cricket, often called the gentleman's game, has seen its players embroiled in serious criminal allegations off the field. In the last five years, multiple Indian cricketers have been booked or arrested in cases involving women, including sexual assault, exploitation, and molestation.

In May 2025, Baroda cricketer Shivalik Sharma was arrested on rape charges after a woman accused him of physical relations under the false promise of marriage. The complaint was filed in Jodhpur, leading to his arrest by Rajasthan Police.

Amit Mishra, an IPL player, faced three cases filed by his wife, model Garima Tiwari, in March 2026. She alleged dowry harassment, assault, and abetment to suicide, claiming Mishra and his family demanded a car and β‚Ή10 lakh after their marriage in 2021. She also said Mishra assaulted her multiple times.

In November 2025, Delhi Capitals and India A cricketer Vipraj Nigam was accused of raping and assaulting a female cricketer from Uttar Pradesh in a hotel, after luring her there. These incidents highlight a troubling trend among cricketers facing legal action for crimes against women.
