KL Rahul has emerged as the leading candidate to take over as Delhi Capitals captain for the 2027 Indian Premier League season. The senior batter, who has been in prolific form for the franchise, is expected to succeed Axar Patel at the helm.
Rahul has amassed over 530 runs in each of the past two seasons, including 593 runs in IPL 2026 while opening the batting. He has previously led both Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, bringing valuable captaincy experience to the role.
In a related development, Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant are reportedly set to swap franchises ahead of IPL 2027. The move would see Pant return to Delhi, where he began his IPL career, while Yadav heads to Lucknow, his home state team.
