The incident occurred after Sri Lanka won a dramatic Super Over, with Halambage reportedly sledging the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi, leading to a shove and verbal exchange.
Halambage is a right-handed batter and leg-spinner born on January 19, 2005. He comes from a cricketing family—his father Kumara played first-class cricket, and his uncle Halambage Premasiri was president of the Galle District Cricket Association. Vishen studied at St. Peter's College and made his T20 debut for Panadura Sports Club in 2023.
