Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Receives Wise Counsel After Heated Exchange in Sri Lanka

Following India A's dramatic Super Over defeat to Sri Lanka A in the Tri-Series, young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was involved in a verbal altercation with a home player. Amid the tension, former Sri Lanka captain Anura Tennekoon waited patiently to speak with the teenager.
Tennekoon, who served as Sri Lanka's first ODI skipper, offered valuable advice. He urged Sooryavanshi to shut out the noise and concentrate solely on his game, reminding him that not every day brings success. The advice came after the 15-year-old had a modest tour without a half-century.
Despite the on-field spat, Tennekoon expressed admiration for Sooryavanshi, calling him a generational talent. He revealed he became a fan during IPL 2026, praising the left-hander's ability to hit boundaries at an exceptional strike rate. Tennekoon hopes the youngster continues on his promising path.
