Gujarat Titans Pacer Ashok Sharma Shifts Domestic Base to Gujarat
The IPL sensation has left Rajasthan to represent Gujarat in domestic cricket, aiming to bolster his IPL performance and India prospects.
Gujarat Titans' express pacer Ashok Sharma has made a strategic career move by switching his domestic state from Rajasthan to Gujarat. The 26-year-old, who lit up IPL 2026 with his raw pace, will now turn out for Gujarat in India's domestic circuit. Rajasthan has granted him a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for the transfer.
Ashok played just six matches for Titans in the recently concluded IPL but left a lasting impression with his fiery bowling. However, his high economy rate led to debates over his place in the playing XI. Despite that, his eight-wicket haul in the 2026 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (22 wickets last season) proves his talent. He has 14 First-Class, 13 List A, and 28 T20 wickets overall.
The move is widely seen as an attempt to familiarize himself with Gujarat's conditions, which could enhance his chances of a national call-up. At the IPL auction, he earned a βΉ90 lakh contract after a bidding war among KKR, CSK, and RR. His departure leaves Rajasthan's pace attack less potent, while Gujarat gains a hard-hitting bowler to join the likes of Arzan Nagwaswalla and Chintan Gaja.
